Hotel Del Coronado
The Hotel Del Coronado is an icon of the California beach experience. Granted historic landmark status in 1977, this 1888 Queen Anne Victorian hotel is one of the largest wood structures in the country. Hornberger + Worstell’s project began with a master plan that defined the hotel’s future growth, grouping development into 2 phases. During Phase I, Hornberger + Worstell seismically upgraded the overall structure of the hotel’s grand Victorian building and renovated the Crown Room, the Grand Ballroom, and restaurant. Hornberger + Worstell also added a new 20,000 square foot conference center. During Phase 2, Hornberger + Worstell designed a cluster of exclusive beachfront villas and cottages as a modern, ultra-luxury alternative to the historic guestrooms found in the main hotel. With its own pool and fitness center, this destination within a destination respects the Hotel Del Coronado’s historic setting while incorporating contemporary amenities.
